MOVEit Automation: Changing your SSL certificate
How to change your Admin and Config tool SSL.
SSL certificates expire and we have all experienced it. In this article we will go over how to update your SSL cert for both your admin login page and for the SSL your tasks use as default.
To start with you will need to have the installer for MOVEit Automation relevant for your version, For example if you are running version 14 then please download the version 14 installer. We will start by stopping the scheduler and the service to prevent any tasks from running during this process.
Load up your MOVEit Automation Web interface and once logged in select “Commands” in the right hand corner and select stop scheduler .
Once that has completed you can now stop both services on the windows server desktop. In the example below we are using task manager to stop the services but you can use services.msc if you prefer.
Please make sure that MICAdmin and MOVEitCentral are both stopped before starting.
We can now right click and run as administrator on the installer we downloaded earlier.
Once loaded we will select “Uninstall” and press Next. Don't worry we are only taking out the web server component temporarily so we can rebuilt it with your new SSL cert.
After that please select “MOVEit Automation Web Admin” and press next.
Please allow the process to complete. Make sure both installer icons on your task bar have completed and disappeared before you move onto the next step.
We will now re-run the installer again as admin but this time we will select "Modify".
Please make sure your license is correct in the next part. Then press next.
We are then going to select “MOVEit Automation Web Admin” and press next.
Next we are going to select the service account. In our example we will use the default moveitsvc account however
if you are using a different windows account for running the service please enter this now. If the account is domain joined
please enter this starting with the domain for example : DOMAIN\Serviceaccount
We will then select our port bindings and our IP / Hostname. For our example we are using a default IP, An example would be 192.168.1.10 however yours will default to what your servers IP is. We then select our ports for specific traffic, We are using the default ports of 80 and 443.
We will now select our new SSL cert. Please make sure it’s in a PFX format and you have the password for the cert ready.
Select “Import” and then browse to the directory that the SSL cert is located. Enter the password and press Next.
At this point we are ready to re-install the web server component. You can now check over your settings so far and export them to a text file by pressing “Save Credentials” if required. If everything checks out please press Proceed.
This now completes the admin web server portion of the SSL change.
To add the cert in the Config tool, follow the steps below.
Please make sure the new SSL cert is installed in your local certificate store and then shut down the services one more time and open “MOVEit Automation Config” on the server desktop.
Once open please select the three dots on the general tab shown below.
Then please select the newly installed cert and double-click.
Then press apply on MOVEit Automation config. Then start both services and the SSL change is now complete.
