Issue
How to upgrade EFT.
Solution
Comprehensive Upgrade Information:
Please consider the following info when upgrading, not all will apply to your unique situation, so gleam what is applicable to you.
You may only upgrade two versions at a time, versions, in this case, will refer to the second numerical character in the software designation. i.e., you can upgrade from (7.0.X to 7.2.X to 7.4.X).
There are some caveats when upgrading to later versions you should be aware of. For example, the new SFTP library will be used in version 7.4.11 and later noted at (1) in the second article linked below.
Upgrading to 7.4.13.15 is also recommended before making the move to version 8.0.X.
Once on 7.4.13.15 we recommend moving to a version pre-8.0.4.27, in other words (v8.0.0.38 or 8.0.1.4 or v8.0.2.23) before making the jump to v8.0.4.27 then to v8.0.6.18 and then to v8.0.7 as this was a major release with several changes to the software, from v8.0.7 you can then go to our latest version.
In case it’s helpful, I have attached links to documentation regarding the upgrade procedure for EFT, copying an EFT config for express, the system requirements and links to obtain the installers below (be sure to note the system requirements for each version as the supported operating systems change as you upgrade to the newer version).
If you are upgrading from a version that is pre-7.4.11.x and are looking to utilize newer ciphers you will need to complete the process outlined in article two below of exporting your SSH keys and converting them to Open SSH (see (2): Use PuTTY to Convert to Open SSH, follow steps below) before you move beyond 7.4.11.X, or make all new keys with the new library.
(1) - It is also important to note that once you upgrade to 8.0.6.X or beyond you will not be able to use the legacy SFTP/SSH library. Also, if you are moving from version 7 to version 8, we will need to convert your licensing key and once you get to 8.0.7 you will have to manually register (see (3)) the serial numbers and provide us with info generated by EFT in a (.txt) file after step 4 in the manual reg process found below.
