Using the GoAnywhere Gateway as an HTTP Proxy
As of version 7.2.0 of GoAnywhere, the GoAnywhere Gateway can be used to provide an HTTP Proxy, rather than having to rely on an external proxy. This will allow GoAnywhere to perform the following functions when it has not been granted direct access to the Internet:
- Refresh News & Tips
- Refresh Licence
- Check for updates
- Connect to Marketplace
- Perform Outbound HTTPS/AS2 connections
To configure the HTTP proxy, first update the gateway.xml file on the GoAnywhere gateway server. You must update the forwardProxies section at the end of the XML file:

Update httpForwardProxy to have enabled=true, then restart the Gateway.
In GoAnywhere, go to System - Global Settings and click on the HTTP Proxy tab. Select HTTP from the Proxy Type dropdown and enter the IP address of the Gateway server as the Proxy Host. Despite the warning that you receive when saving the change, there is no need to restart the GoAnywhere service.

These settings are used for all system tasks, however, for HTTPS or AS2 outbound connections, you will have to enter the same information on the proxy tab of the resource.
